Complete run of clippings from the Chicago Daily Tribune for the mystery contest (Jan. 17-Feb. 26, 1949), which asked participants to answer “What Became of the Black Bag with One Million Dollars.” Neatly mounted in a cloth-backed binder by one Dan Howard, who at the conclusion types out his solution to the mystery. Laid inside are a number of related clippings, for example listing cash winners of the contest (a total of $25,000 was offered in prizes). In a paper envelope with ink design and copy of Chester Gould’s signature. Light rippling to some pages from scrapbook adhesive, otherwise good condition.
