Original brown wrappers printed with red and green. Written as an expose of spiritualism and mediumship acts in the early 20th century, challenging many of the prominent performers to prove their talent. Lists "The Fox Sisters, Howe, Slade, Keeler, Evans, Moore, Johnson, Kellogg, Reynolds, Carroll, [and] Kellar," as performers outed by this expose. The final section of this book also alludes to Harry Houdini and his escapes, particularly from handcuffs, though does not pin him by name. Some chips and toning to wrappers, wrappers separating from front hinge and spine, a few booksellers' stamps. Else very good.
