The performer introduces six cards: three red spot cards that are red-backed and three black spot cards that are blue-backed. The cards are shown one at a time as they are mixed in red-black order; thus, the backs of the cards are also mixed in red-blue order. Then, without any false moves, the cards are shown to have instantly separated! This is repeated a second time! This routine is concluded by explaining that the cards will naturally separate since oil and water cannot be mixed; the red and black cards are now spread onto the table and are obviously seen separated in color, both faces and backs.
