Silk Through Candle

A silk handkerchief is placed over the flame of a burning candle, which pierces the cloth. The handkerchief is pulled back and forth through the flame in every direction, and is eventually pulled free from the candle, yet the silk is entirely unharmed. Mechanical candle includes a small reservoir for fuel that may be refilled. A well-made example of this prop, also known under the name Flame-ette.
